Unique Majors/Out of State/Military Personnel

*Students who attend out-of-state schools and qualify for a “unique major” as determined by the Maryland Higher Education Commission may also be eligible for scholarship funding. Scholarships can be used at an out-of-state school only if your major is not available at any Maryland institution.  To learn more about the unique major application, visit www.mhec.state.md.us. The unique major application can be found here.  Legislative scholarships can be used at out-of-state institutions if the applicant is on active duty with the U.S Military and domiciled in the State. The scholarship may also be used out-of-state if the student is disabled and studying at an institution outside the State that makes special provisions for disabled students that are not available to the applicant at an institution in Maryland.  Students inquiring about the Unique Major process can email questions to uniquemajor.mhec@maryland.gov.

Thank you for your interest in a legislative scholarship. If you have any questions regarding the award process, please email ariana.kelly@house.state.md.us. To learn about our Legislative Internship Program Opportunities, Click Here!
